Saint Barnabas the Encourager Episcopal Church

We are a fellowship of ordinary people, from all walks of life, who are united through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that God loves you
– no exceptions.

We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.

We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.

We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.

FAQs

Where is St. Barnabas located?

Saint Barnabas the Encourager Episcopal Church used to be named St Paul's Episcopal Church. New name. Same Location. We are located on Flintville Road just north of the Calavera Springs Park in the Village of Suamico, Wisconsin (see the map below). Parking is available, including handicap parking.

How do I know what to do during the service?

Service bulletins guide you through the entire service. We sit, we stand, and we kneel as we are able. All baptized Christians are welcome to come forward to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion (the bread and wine). If you are not receiving communion, you are invited to come forward for a blessing, indicated by crossing your arms across your chest. If you desire to receive communion but are unable to come forward, tell an usher and communion will be brought to you..

What about accessibility?

All areas of St. Barnabas are wheelchair accessible including the parking lot.

What should I wear?

Come as you are. On any given Sunday you will find everything from jeans and t-shirts, to polos and khakis, to suits and ties.

What do I do with my kids?

All children are invited to join us at any service. We aim for an encouraging environment that promotes participation with and by small children. Parents need not worry that their child's activity will be seen as a disruption but rather interaction welcomed. The service also includes a sermon with a message for young and old.

How long does the service last?

Our Sunday 10:00 a.m. service lasts about 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Coffee and time for fellowship follow the service.
